Hot chiles and Downtown Merida!

This was supposed to be Tuesday's post, but the Internet hasn't been working well and I have been busy going to the beach!!! So here it is....

Today Has been an amazing day first off:

I dared to try habaniero...THE HOTTEST CHILE IN ALL OF MEXICO. Kinda dumb right? Well luckily for me, my host family had salsa that was called "Fuego Maya"--which means Mayan Fire. Basically it is made with the hottest chile but isn't as strong because it is mixed with other ingredients. all I can say is: YES. IT WAS THE MOST SPICY AND HOT THING I HAVE EVER TASTED.I tried to upload the video....but there isn't enough connection here to do so. Lets just say it burned and I was a huge baby.

Then after my host family graiously introduced me to other types of chiles and salsa that aren't as hot. THE FOOD HERE IS INCREDIBLE. Theeee most delicious Mexican food in the world! They call it Yucetcan food, which is a little different then traditional mexican food...but it is amazing!

After lunch we went to the mall with my new "sister" whose name is Monse, to the mall. There we exchanged our US money for that of los pesos.


We then went to the center of town.....check this out...

(All the buildings in La Centro look like this...absolutely beautiful!)

(There is lots of shopping in Merida...but check out this dude he was MAKING Mayan rugs!!)

(In the center there are soooooooooo many pigeons. Kinda scary...and kinda reminded me of the movie birds. We were standing near here and all the sudden all of these pigeons started flying at us. Probably the most scary thing ever!)

(This was a HUGE and beautiful Catholic Chapel that we went in. There were many people praying in there and the details of the architecture was stunning!)

(These are Las Sillas de Amor...which means the "Love Chairs". Throughout the park there were lots of couples sitting in them...and some where TOTALLY kissing. We need these in America. ahaha)

(This guy was amazing. Just on the streets he throws these batons in the air and does all these fancy tricks with them...it was really cool to watch)

(Ale and Monce (my new sisters) have been wonderful....they let me use this beautiful and SOOOOOO bright nailpolish! Both me and Marie painted our nails...Mexican Style!)

(This is some statue of a guy who lived in Merida. Taylor, another one of my friends, and I spent a while trying to figure out what it was, but to no avail. So I made him go stand by it for a picture...hahaha)

All in all...it was an AMAZING DAY packed with AMAZING ADVENTURES!
